Do you feel disconnected from yourself and others? Do you find it difficult to identify, understand, or manage your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors? In my work, I strive to create an accepting, non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe exploring the difficult, and sometimes painful, parts of yourself. I view therapy as a deeply meaningful and collaborative process that can serve as a catalyst to shifting the way you relate to yourself and others. This allows for more fulfilling and meaningful relationships, and the subsequent easing of psychological symptoms. I utilize a relational, insight-oriented approach in therapy while also emphasizing warmth, genuineness, and spontaneity. While I am comfortable working with a wide range of presenting problems and issues, I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, identity/relational/cultural concerns, third-culture-individuals, trauma, and personality disorders. I understand that the search for a therapist can sometimes feel daunting or overwhelming. To schedule an initial phone consultation, please fill out and submit my New Patient Screening Form at "screening.dradrianchiu.com/PT" - I will then be in touch via email within 24 hours.

There is currently a lot of uncertainty in the world. Now, more than ever it is important to find the support we might have been lacking. Usually, we feel as if we can tackle everything on our own, but that might not be the case anymore. Taking the step to care for yourself not only benefits you, but those around you. In my experience, I have found that the most healing moments occur when we are able to be completely open with another person and then be accepted for who we truly are. I value all my clients whole-heatedly and emphasize your autonomy and personal choice. I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My experience spans a variety of age groups and backgrounds. I specialize in anxiety and depression, eating disorders, and sports performance. I also have experience working extensively with people experiencing trauma, psychosis, and addictions. I am bi-lingual and bi-cultural and recognize the importance that culture plays in our life. Reaching out for help can be difficult and choosing a therapist can be a stressful decision. I offer all potential client’s free consultation to give them an opportunity to see if we are a good fit. My hope for you is that you can find someone you feel safe and comfortable with as you begin your therapy journey whether that be me or someone else.

You’re overlooking yourself while over-extending for others, and you're over it. Tasks, responsibilities, and commitments pile on, and you're left wondering what contortions your schedule will make to fit them all in. You're getting that “running on empty” memo from fatigue. And as you take time with the people that matter most to you, it’s hard not to be distracted by stress and worry which has you missing out on enjoying the moment fully. Life may be feeling like you're trying to take a deep and satisfying breath but it falls short because it feels blocked. And here is where we cross paths! I work with those who’ve suppressed their needs, hushed their voices, and dampened their self-expression. Those grappling with their sense of worth and tugging internally with opposing feelings of “enough-ness.” I work with burned-out perfectionists, high-achievers, givers, people-pleasers, and “Imposters” seeking authentic connections and acceptance. I offer collaborative, holistic and culturally-considerate therapy. I can guide your self-exploration and understanding, and offer practical tools for self-awareness, calm, and clear communication. And to heal trauma and release emotional aches, I can offer mind+body therapy. Visit my website to learn more, schedule a free consultation, and to get started.

We are often presented with a plan for how our lives might look by our family, community, and society. What happens when your life goes off-script? Maybe you lose someone important to you, and you are left wondering how to pick up the pieces and move forward. Maybe you see your peers seeming to “check the boxes” of adulthood and feel like you’re falling behind or failing. Maybe you’ve retired and are finding it difficult to adjust to a life outside your job. Maybe you don’t fit into the straight, binary norm and you’re struggling to find what a full and healthy life looks like for you when you don't have a template. All of these situations can leave you feeling lost, and may lead to problems with anxiety and depression. How do you find meaning and hope when things aren’t the way you expected them to be? Let's look for the answer to this question. I use an affirming, client-centered approach to help you find the direction you want to take and the tools you need. I work with adults over 25, of all genders. I am currently accepting new clients for telehealth and in-person therapy. Contact me via email or phone to set up a free consultation call.

If you are finding yourself in need of therapy then chances are searching for a new therapist may be feeling a bit daunting right now. Whether you are going through a significant life situation or if your distress seems to have caught you by surprise, I thought it would be helpful to share some highly likely topics of exploration that can be expected during our work together as a means to seeing the change you want to see - no matter what your desires for therapy may be: self-compassion; core emotions; boundaries; core beliefs about yourself; autonomy; vulnerability; self-worth; healthy relationships of all types; strengths. View 6 Photos I have extensive experience working with individuals impacted by trauma related to intimate partner violence and sexual assault as well as from abuse and neglect. The core of my work uses feminist theory to explore how systems of oppression as well as socialization impact our emotional health and explore how one can move toward empowerment and autonomy. In Session was created with the hope that a serene space can allow you to find respite from your busy world long enough to slow down and put yourself first. I strive to always be genuine, empathetic and warm so that you may feel safe, accepted and open as you navigate the pains and joys that occur throughout therapy. I hope to connect with you soon.

Have comments and micro aggressions left you feeling like you are at a loss for your next steps? Building a space where your unique identity is centered and prioritized is where our work begins. For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of providing both direct and indirect mental healthcare to youths, adults, and families in my local community and surrounding areas. Although life experiences and observations of such has been my primary educator, I attribute my education and training, as well as positions at various for and non-profit agencies to assisting me with honing my therapeutic skills in helping clients identify and rediscover their distinctive strengths to develop new ways of thinking, behaving, and relating to others to achieve a better quality of living and relationships. In a safe, therapeutic environment youths (ages 8 to 17 ), adults, couples, and families are provided professional counseling to help (re)discover and utilize their personal strengths in improving relationships, overcoming adverse circumstances, and other symptoms related to non and existing mental/emotional health diagnoses. Taking the steps towards improvement requires courage to leave the familiar. I encourage you to invest in yourself and begin the healing and learning process of becoming aware of your strengths in overcoming challenges that is impacting your quality of living.

Some people will never understand what it is like to be raised by parents who don’t see you. The pain you feel when they put everything and everyone before you. How small and invisible it made you feel when they ignore the love you have for them and choose “it” instead. The “it” could have been drugs, partners, friends, siblings, work, etc…no matter what you did they never seemed to choose you. You may have even had to take care of your parents and become a 2nd parent to your siblings. You found yourself making excuses about why they were not present, why they forgot, and then you learned to numb the pain. Now you are at a point where it’s becoming more difficult to numb the feelings and to hide your hurt; you want to let go of the hurt/pain from the past. Maybe you have trouble engaging with your parents because they haven’t changed, they still attempt to make you parent them and minimize your needs. They may even try to treat you as if you are still a child. I specialize in therapy for adult children of emotionally immature parents. The work I do is centered in inner child healing, nurturing you through those memories of a stolen childhood. Inner child healing is about relearning innocence, experiencing safety, validating your feelings, accepting joy, and creating a deep sense of worth.
