Brief Position Overview
A Clinical Supervisor oversees counselors and psychologists optimize treatments for clients. This can include hiring top-quality practitioners, leading them to reach their potential, and overseeing practitioners’ treatments. The Clinical Supervisor directs and manages an effective clinical service delivery team using applicable counseling principles, including patient psychosocial assessment, group, and individual psychotherapy, family intervention, patient/family education, and treatment planning. In addition to providing support services to therapists, clinical supervisors provide developmental performance feedback aimed at helping therapists improve their expertise. Clinical supervisors also evaluate staff workload to determine whether adequate staffing levels are maintained while ensuring that clinical files are strengthened according to company policy and state and federal regulations.
Roles / Tasks*
- Having regular meetings with department heads, and practitioners.
- Overseeing and reviewing practitioners’ work procedures.
- Counseling, motivating, disciplining practitioners, and referring advanced issues to upper management.
- Conducting performance reviews.
- Ensuring practitioners comply with licensure and registration requirements.
- Ensuring compliance, accuracy, and quality of clinical documentation.
- Assisting practitioners by supervising complex cases.
- Enhancing operations by evaluating staffing and adequate access to services.
- Developing programs and ensuring compliance with procedures and policies.
- Supports evaluation of program services to enhance patient outcomes and acts as a positive change agent to implement clinical initiatives to increase quality patient care.
- Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures
- Attends staff meetings and team conferences; leads team meetings as required.
- Participates in, leads, and/or coordinates training sessions and workshops to enhance treatment skills.
- Provides direct, individual clinical supervision for licensed and unlicensed clinical staff
- Monitor caseloads and ensure that supervisees comply with all clinical, legal, and ethical practices. Review and co-sign supervisees’ progress notes, clinical forms, and correspondences when indicated.
- Provides ongoing, regular feedback and evaluation to clinicians on their clinical work and caseload quality and timeliness.
- Communicates any concerns about the quality of the clinician’s work to the Program Director.
- Facilitates group supervision or case conferences as required.
- Participates in meetings, administrative program meetings, and training as required.
- Contributes to 90 day and annual performance evaluations of clinicians.
- Identifies training needs and makes recommendations to the Program Director.
- Provides support and training to assist clinicians in documentation and quality assurance standards.
- Helps clinicians identify professional development goals for the year and collaboratively monitors progress toward those goals.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
- Current eligibility to provide clinical supervision in the state of Pennsylvania
- Strong project management skills
- Strong analysis and critical thinking skills
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Strong leadership qualities
- Implements industry best practices to maximize key performance indicators (KPIs) such as patient visits, net promoter score, and revenue per visit.
- Establishes location, team, and individual performance objectives to include productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of the meaningful operational metrics and utilizes this information to manage his/her practices.
- Works with the care team to achieve desired results on expenditures, productivity, and volume.
- Manages clinician relationships with weekly meetings to address concerns and help resolve issues.
- Coordinates with leadership team and marketing to introduce and market new clinicians and services offered by the company.
- Ensures that staff is oriented, trained and the competence of staff is assessed including but not limited to our key performance indicators & HIPAA
- Conducts accurate, meaningful & timely performance appraisals and carries out all other personnel actions fairly and consistently, according to policies, procedures, and laws/regulations.
- Troubleshoots & resolves tech challenges
- Maintains professional behavior at all times.
- Responsible for upholding security and confidentiality regulations, and company policies and procedures for access and review of all medical records.
- Responds to concerns in a “do it now” and professional manner.
- Performs other duties as identified and/or assigned
