Dr. Marcus Rodriguez is Founder and Director of the Youth and Family Institute in Los Angeles. He is also Director of the Global Mental Health Research Lab (www.globalmentalhealthlab.com/) and Assistant Professor of Psychology at Pitzer College (https://www.pitzer.edu/academics/faculty/marcus-rodriguez/). Dr. Rodriguez was born in California, grew up in Mexico, studied in Germany for a year during college, lived in China for 9 years after college, and has traveled to more than 80 countries. As a clinical psychologist, he provides direct patient care, training, consultation, and supervision in English, Spanish and Mandarin. Dr. Rodriguez is an internationally recognized expert in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). He is a founding member of ISITDBT’s Antiracism Committee (https://isitdbt.net/anti-racism/), and also an instructor and consultant for Behavioral Tech, LLC (BTECH) and the Marsha M. Linehan DBT Clinic at the University of Washington. He published an edited book on DBT in Mandarin, dozens of articles in peer-reviewed journals, and made more than 100 clinical and scholarly conference presentations. He is currently the lead consultant of a 13-site randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT) examining the efficacy of DBT in inpatient hospital settings and a principal investigator for a multi-site RCT of DBT on college campuses in China.
