My speciality is working with individuals experiencing issues with stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, over-eating, grief and trauma. My approach is to first identify existing coping strategies to deal with the current stressors. Together, we sort out the underlying problems and identify and develop a tool kit with more effective coping strategies for the many challenges that the world throws at you. We examine and re-frame your emotional reactions to current and past trauma. The relationship between therapist and client is really important for change; and I do my best to provide a warm, natural, humorous and relaxed atmosphere. View 4 Photos I like to work eclectically; focusing on strength's based and cognitive behavioral approaches to treatment, as well as utilizing mindfulness, and existential and narrative explorations of self. I work a lot on boosting the sense of self, identifying building blocks for self-trust and self worth; striving for increased locus of control and self-efficacy. Hailing from Norway, I also enjoy working with fellow ex-pats, managing acculturation and acclimation processes. My warm and informal approach often allows for conversations that otherwise are threatening and embarrassing to occur organically. Sex questions and intimacy problems are so much easier to tackle if we extract the unnecessary awkwardness!

As a systemic therapist, I think of people kind of like nesting dolls: we all go through life as the little one in the middle, whole and independent, yet undeniably we are nestled in larger contextual structures. I will meet you with compassion, humor, and non-judgment in the therapy space, holding your whole picture in mind as we work together to integrate the realities of your context with the realities of your heart. All parts of you are welcomed and held. I am a queer-identifying provider and enjoy supporting clients in navigating their own identities. My clinical work is attachment-based and trauma-informed, focusing on child and adolescent populations. I have a background working in inpatient and day treatment settings, and have lots of experience with what are sometimes referred to as "big behaviors." I am a neurodiversity-affirming provider. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions or schedule a consult! If we are not connected right away, I will respond to inquiries within 2 business days.
